In recent years, literacy rates have started to decline in most parts of the world.

For example, the number of readers in the US has dropped from 15.2 books per year to 12.6.

College graduates dropped from 21.1 books to 14.6 in 2021.
The average US woman reads 4 fewer books, from 19.3 to 15.7.
Americans today only read 17 minutes a day compared to watching 3 HOURS of TV a day.

And 27% of adults in the US didn’t read in 2018.
One in five children in the UK do not read well by age 11.
Literacy rates in Europe are also declining in countries other than Finland, Poland, Estonia and Greece.

In addition, India, Thailand and China are the countries that spend the most time reading books.

There is also a significant increase in the number of audiobooks in China. (In a sense, it also describes his last ascent)

The importance of reading books is another issue.
Because that’s not what this post is about.
However, it is a serious problem that social media has become a reading culture and Youtube has changed the habit of reading books in many people.
